The Challenge: A Cold Home and Weathered Exterior
When we visited this property, the home was facing two distinct issues. Firstly, the loft had no insulation installed, meaning heat was escaping rapidly through the roof, leading to high energy bills and uncomfortable living temperatures. Secondly, the exterior pebble dash was showing signs of weathering, leaving the masonry vulnerable to moisture and damp.
Our Professional Solution
1. High-Performance Loft Insulation
To tackle the heat loss, we implemented a dual-layer insulation strategy designed for maximum thermal efficiency:
- SuperFOIL® SF19+ Multifoil Insulation: We installed the industry-leading YBS SuperQuilt 19-layer foil. This revolutionary solution reflects up to 97% of radiant heat, helping to keep the home warm in winter and cool in summer. Its thin profile allowed us to maximise space while meeting UK Building Regulations Part L.
- Rockwool Supplement: To provide additional thermal mass, we complemented the SuperFOIL® with 300mm of high-quality Rockwool.
This combination ensures the home retains heat far more effectively, offering a significant reduction in energy consumption and improved thermal comfort.
2. ProPerla® HomeCoat Exterior Protection
To protect the property’s exterior, our team carried out a professional hydrophobic coating application:
- Preparation: We began with a thorough clean using a specialised fungal pre-wash to remove any algae or organic growth from the pebble dash.
- Application: We applied the ProPerla® HomeCoat system to the pebble dash. This hydrophobic coating repels water and moisture, preventing damp penetration and protecting the masonry from weather-induced damage.
The Result: A Protected, Energy-Efficient Home
The transformation was complete. The property now benefits from a much warmer loft space, a more energy-efficient interior, and a refreshed, protected exterior that is shielded from the elements.
