We were contacted directly through our website by Andrew, who lives in Bristol in a bungalow that has been converted to include a bedroom and a dormer in the attic. During the summer, due to the hot weather, the attic space becomes extremely warm and uncomfortable, making it difficult to live or sleep upstairs.
Andrew found us on Google and spoke with John, who arranged to visit him the following day. When we visited Andrew, we discovered that there was no insulation around the dormer bedroom in the attic. This meant that sunlight was directly heating the room, causing the discomfort. Andrew was already aware of foil insulation and was interested in it, but John provided a demonstration and gave both Andrew and his partner, Jayne, more detailed information about the product.
We agreed on a fair price that Andrew and Jayne were happy with, and the work was scheduled for the following week. We installed YBS SuperQuilt, a 19-layer foil insulation solution, covering 120 m² of the roof. This product not only ensures warmer winters but, more importantly for Andrew, cooler summers.
The installation took two days to complete, as we also had to treat Andrew’s structural beams with a wood treatment due to mould spores on the rafters, which John had identified during the survey. Andrew and Jayne were thrilled with the results, giving Matt and Theo, our installation team, a £20 tip each and leaving LoftFoil a five-star review on Google.
